What would make your workday unique as a Full Stack Developer at Fondion?
- 50% of your day would be dedicated to feature development. You would be given the autonomy to bring your ideas to life, contributing to a product that is revolutionizing the construction industry.
- 10% of your time would be dedicated to enhancing the technology. Currently, our focus is on enhancing our application's reliability and performance, along with improving developer experience and productivity through a comprehensive rewrite of core parts of the application.
- 10% of your time would be invested in assisting and engaging in discussions with the team. Our core team consists of a Tech Lead, a Senior Backend developer, a Senior Frontend developer, and three full stack developers, along with 2+ consultants. We value everyone's insights and believe it's crucial to have viewpoints on how tasks can be executed.
- 10% of your time would be devoted to code review activities. You'd also be involved in reviewing code, testing, and debugging to uphold our standards of high-quality coding.
- The remaining 10% would be allocated for meetings (dailies, weekly, demo, retro, refinement).

As part of our core team, you will contribute to a culture that values quick iterations and learning through doing (MVP), while maintaining the focus on value and quality outcomes. We highly value your input on potential improvements and we place a strong focus on enhancing the developer experience. Here are your primary responsibilities:
- Develop and sustain scalable web applications utilizing Python (FastAPI), TypeScript (React), and related technologies.
- Engage in code review, testing, and bug fixing to maintain the highest code quality standards.
- Assist in refining our development methodologies, including our commitment to the Trunk Based Development model and our aim to minimize cycle time between 2 to 4 days.
- Create usability focused front-end solutions using TypeScript, React, and Material UI.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to convert business needs into technical specifications.
- Design and improve back-end systems with FastAPI and ensure smooth deployment on AWS infrastructure managed with Terraform.
What does the team expect from you within the first year?
- In 3 months, you should be fully onboarded, understand our development practices, and have started contributing to feature development.
- In 6 months, you should be able to independently handle feature development, participate actively in code reviews, and begin to contribute to tech improvements.
- In 12 months, you should be an integral part of our team, driving tech improvements, actively collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing significantly to reducing our cycle time.
Key skills required to take on this challenge:
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in full stack development, with demonstrated expertise in Python, JavaScript, and React.
- Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control, testing, and deployment.
- Proven experience working in a fast-paced startup environment, with a specific focus on product development and user experience.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate proficiently in English and willingness to come to our Espoo office once a month.
